It’s almost Valentine’s Day and love is in the air. Brand-building is all about forging relationships and there’s a lot to be learned from the world of romance. So let’s grab ourselves a glass of Baileys, surrender to the Lynx effect and get seriously romantic. Here are our six tips for love in the world of brands:
01. Work out the ideal love match
It’s no good looking for love if you’re not sure who’s your type. Work out a clear strategy, defining the values that you want to be associated with your brand and the type of consumer you are looking to attract.
02. Get out there
Once you know who you’re looking for, you’ll know where to look. Where do your potential consumers hang out? What are their interests? How do they like to communicate? Who else are they interested in?
03. Pay attention to personal grooming
Invest time and effort on wardrobe (brand identity). Does it convey what the brand’s about? Are values clearly conveyed in the cut of the jib? Does it stand out from the crowd? Will it get noticed?
04. Look into their eyes
Once you’ve got their attention, show them you’re interested in them. Engage them in conversation and listen to what they have to say.
05. Show them a good time
Ensure they’re getting value out of the time they spend with your brand. Don’t let them get bored – keep it fresh. Constantly re-evaluate performance and keep innovating.
06. Ask for commitment
You’re looking for marriage, not a one-night-stand. Make sure your consumers understand that you’re up for a meaningful relationship. Gauge how it’s going, ask for feedback and create an emotional connection.
If you give your consumers the same attention you would a cherished lover, you’ll be on the way to a long and meaningful relationship with them.
